Sunset over Georgian Bay

by Luba Sargeant

Sunset over Georgian Bay

Slanting rays streak
In stripes of lilac and peach
Against a light blue sky.
Granite clouds hang as
Darkness creeps
From the East
In silence,
Daylight leaking finality.
A loon glides over sand and water,
Its call lonely, forlorn,
And drifts into the shadows of night.
